Another great event went down this past week and Christian Surfers Sebastian Inlet was a key part of it. We spent all day Thursday, Friday and Sunday (6:30 am to 4:00 pm) at the inlet. It started out great, John Autry helped out with setting up near the scaffolding and we did our thing on Thursday. Chapter member Nate Gallagher was competing, but the lack of waves and his unfortunate heat time, dead high tide, did not allow Nate to show his stuff. That behind us we kept on, passing out water, fruit, sunscreen … all day. The announcer told the crown throughout the day, that if they needed sunscreen to go to the Christian Surfers tent so that was a positive shout out, all day. We had a God moment when one of the competitors showed up and dropped off four cases of Famous surf wax . I say a God moment because we were running out of the wax that we had to purchase from On A Mission and needed to get more, so this fills that need. We got to see lots of people we met during the recent ESA Regional Championships and it was nice to catch up.

We saw incresed winds on Friday making conditions tough for the younger competitors. We felt like the conditions were getting tougher on us as well, with a small spirtual battel going on. However, Matt Deery and I pressed on and made sure eveyone there was taken care of including the judges and the NSSA staff. We provided them with a basket of fruit, breakfast bars and crackers to keep them fueled. We provided them with a ton of sunscreen samples we had so they could pass it out and we took every opportunity to see if we could be of assistance to them.
We did not have anyone to cover for Saturday so we showed up bright and early Sunday. We were greeted by one of the NSSA owners thanking us for our gift basket. Matt and I were also asked, over and over, where we were on Saturday and were told that we were missed. We set up right where we were the first day and again passed out lots of sunscreen, 4 cases of water, juice, Gatorade, fruit, crackers….. We went through all 50 DVD’s we had just received on Saturday, about 15 Bibles, stickers and added around 15 new e-mails to our list. We also took the time to help the NSSA assemble their trophies. During that time we were asked about why we are there and why we do what we do. She was a bit taken back by our commitment to the surfers and surf community. She even said that if we would like to provide security next year they would pay our chapter for our service.
Again God is working through this chapter. When things get tough and you wonder what we are really doing, days like this happen and it all makes since. Kingdom Business is so rewarding.
